Good day to you and thank you
for visiting our site and for your kinship and support of the GoodenPlenty Project. It's still like a new toy all of
us because we enjoy what we do, so much, and we hope you will continue to view this site for updates and event
venue location information. We would love to have you join us for a good time. We never forget it is you that
makes it happen.
The GoodenPlenty Project,
featuring
Miss Loretta Gooden. Never a disappointing moment when listening to this band and vocal stylist. A smorgasbord of genres from their roots of soul, gospel, jazz, R&B with a lot of blues
thrown in, all this just before or after the country and pop selections. No matter
what they play, you hear it all in every song. Miss Loretta's delivery is guaranteed
to send chills up your spine; her signature indeed. She says she’s simply
sharing “...what
music makes me feel. It is so special when people stop me and take the time to express how much they enjoyed a particular song;
I feel embraced. Time is a valued commodity. To share it with me, now that is a good thing."

* * * * *
When I was younger I played rock & roll. Later, in my teens, I played in an alternative band; a kind of 'punk funk' band
called Buckshot (all originals). As time went on I played in a touring alternative band called Shiver. As my knowledge and
skill progressed, I moved into some other genres like New Orleans jazz, playing with the Dan Holmes group and R&B groups
like Mojo; recently played with the Fred Sights Project who plays jazz. I currently substitute for Duke Tumatoe occasionally
and done some studio work; recently with Forest Gras; recording his newest CD (2009).
My preferences are funk, R&B, blues and disco; I appreciate all music. Good music is good music.
When I hooked up with the GoodenPlenty Project (GPP), I was playing at a blues jam at the Player's Pub, in Bloomington,
and was approached by some sweet and talented people. The rest is history.
Loves funk music, his 'baby' and her special bass rig. Include a glass of fine red wine and he's a happy camper, after that.
Play on, Jack.

Jim enjoys playing with the GPP and arrives to every gig 3+ hours early to ensure things get set up right. He spoils the
band and they love it. Thanks, Jim. A good lesson for us all.

JIM ROLLINS
"Thumper"
DRUMMER
Vocals
|
From the time he was two years old he was banging on pillows with his mother's yarn needles and, so, it began.
As a teenager, Jim decided to continue to pursue his drumming and played with his local high school rock band called Fortunate
Sun. With his country-rock roots, Jim has since played with a band called Country Kiss which took him to Shooting Star/Curb
Records where he played for the new and upcoming artists out of that label, as well as 21st Century Records, both out of Nashville,
TN. Jim has also played for and been featured with a tribute band called The Country Stars Review out of Kentucky.
Though born in Pensacola, Florida, Jim's home for the past 30 years has been Bloomington and he has played with many of
your favorite locals here, i.e. the Impasse band, Purple Soda Band, Jim Hayden's Tuff Stuff Band, the Big Ol'Things, 02R's,
Long Shot, the Puzzle Pieces and many more.
Come and hear what this man can do with those needles and pillows.

also flute, keyboards and sings background vocals. As valuable an asset as they come. |
NELSON BATALON

other supportive organizations to the armed forces.
Hajee not only brings his many talents to the GPP but he also brings his family; Nelson Batalon, Jr. is now a regular
sax player in the group and the GPP has vowed to include the younger Tim, now 20yrs old, for the big band sound, when he's
21. Look out, y'all! This young man is bringing more flavor to the sauce.

PHIL HIPSKIND
AQUARIUS
January 25
When Phil is not performing music live, he works as a songwriter/producer/engineer/musician in his home recording studio.
Phil has released five original CDs, to-date, and he continues to teach English, which he has done for the past two decades.
|
|
Chillin' with Phil Hipskind. |
Phil grew up in northern Indiana, and he was influenced by a myriad of musical styles that his siblings were listening to
during his pre-teen years. Such artists included: the Beatles, Jim Croce, James Taylor, Elton John, and everything on WLS,
a radio station based in Chicago.
Long before Phil started playing guitar, he had started the process of combining melody and lyrics to the accompaniment
of bongo drums. When Phil was 14, he saw Roy Clark performing on an episode of Hee Haw and recognized a pattern to Clark's
lead guitar work. A few years later, Phil began honing his skills as a guitarist and a songwriter.
Rock-n-roll artists such as AC/DC, Peter Frampton, Van Halen, Mark Knopfler, and Ted Nugent helped to shape Phil's early
musical compositions, while Blues and Jazz artists influenced his later guitar playing and songwriting styles.
